Anchorage Public Library

Friends of the Library is a hands-on group of volunteers that works to support Anchorage Public Library, greatly enhancing the quality of life in our community.
In addition to the financial contributions to support the collection, staff and community-based programs, Friends resources enhance children’s programs such as: Storyteller Series, Reading Rendezvous, Lap-sit Bags, Summer Reading Celebration and Live @ the Library – the outdoor summer concert series with local musicians.
Assisting in grassroots community organizing to enlighten the public about municipal issues involving our Library is an ongoing effort. The Friends is dedicated to encouraging our neighbors to “help keep our libraries the heart of our Community”.
What you can do:
- Become a Member – Membership fees are a major contributor to the funds used to support our Library.
- Volunteer – Join us by volunteering at our events or for event planning.
- Donate – Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization which works to:
- Increase the visibility of the Libraries
- Add to the APL’s collection
- Support the Library’s activities and programs
- Advocate for literacy and the Library
